beady-eye v0.32.0

What’s up next: beady-eye 0.32 lists the work you could pick up, and what each bead unblocks

Ask beady-eye 0.32.0 what you could pick up, and it answers with one short list. bdi --ready puts the beads already in hand first, those in progress or with a live agent on them, then the beads ready to start, each once and most urgent first. It counts a blocker in another project, and it offers a parent’s open children rather than the parent. Already inside bdi? Press r.

The caff’s order book, with the sugar fix on top and the dairy’s delivery slotted in among the caff’s own beads. Opening the sugar fix shows the ticket it frees. Opening the dairy’s bead shows the oat flat white still waits on a price.

What each order frees up

Open a row on the ready list and it draws every bead waiting on that one, up to the root and across projects. Each is marked: either it would be unblocked once this bead closes, or it waits on more. So the dairy delivering oat milk does not put the oat flat white on the board by itself, because nobody has chalked a price yet. Counting sugars per cup frees the ticket printer straight away.

A shorter order book

Name a bead and the list covers only that bead and the work beneath it:

bdi --ready spoon-1

The list’s foot counts the beads the forest flags and any project it could not read, and / searches only the rows on the list.

For the pass

bdi --beads --ready writes the same list as JSON, in the same order, under in_progress and ready. So what you could pick up now is one line:

bdi --beads --ready | jq '.ready[].id'

Who is waiting on you

The window on a bead now lists, under what it blocks, the beads in other projects bdi reads that wait on it. Follow one and bdi takes you there.

None of this needs anything from you.

Next, please.
